Effective January 1, 2017, the effective tax period was extended 12 times to January 1 January of the following calendar year beginning January 1, 2017.  Tax and reporting period extension is the responsibility of the Commonwealth Treasurer. The annual Form 1099-MISC is filed on or before the due date each year, December 31, for the calendar year for which the 1099-MISC forms are due. In general, Form 1099-MISC, for service performed on or after January 1, 2017, can be filed in paper and electronic, unless the taxpayer received any other form of payment by a method set forth in section 2.02.00(1) of the ITIN law, or if the taxpayer's gross receipts do not exceed the 600 threshold for service performed under §6.24(a)(5)(xxiii) of the ITIN law.
